And here is the most likely final batch of custom BIOS. Now including a BIOS for the Fury Nitro and a newer version of the Fury X BIOS which should be better than the old version.
The BIOSs offer raised power limit and a 3D load voltage of 1.3V. This leads to better overclocking capabilities and better performance than the stock BIOSs running similar amounts of voltage in Trixx/Afterburner/GPUTweak. The power limits on all the BIOSs are 400W and 350A you should not need to raise the power limits but can if you wish to do so. The newer Fury X BIOS is based of the latest AMD provided BIOS and seems to clock better than the last one I made but I haven't fully tested it yet(it is safe to use).

In other news I've done a quick test run of Firestrike with 2 cards and the results are looking promising. The cards aren't fully finished but at this rate I should be able to break 40K graphics some time soon. With some work on the 5960X I can probably get into the top 20 for 3Dmark Firestrike on HWbot. Currently I'm number 65 on the Firestrike rankings for 2 cards. Here's a link to the score: http://hwbot.org/submission/3185463_
Mind you I got that score with 0 artifacts so there was still some room in the cards left to push it but it was 3AM and I got the results I wanted to see. Also the 5960X was only 100mhz above my daily OC since I wanted to test the GPUs not mess around with CPU stability issues. Once I have everything working 100% I will be live streaming the overclocking sessions. I'm coming for you 3 way TITAN-Xs and once I'm done they will rename Firestrike to Furystrike.
MFW I get 38.8K GPU score in Firestrike
Also for those of you who watch the youtube channel do not worry. I have not forgot about you, there will be content soon I promise.

Can't wait to try the new nitro BIOS! Thanks BZ!

ReplyDeleteHi! I flashed your last bios for the fury x and I don't have a 3d load voltage of 1.3v.. Did I do something wrong? I flashed with the last version of atiwinflash with command prompt.. Your bios shows in gpuz.. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIT's 1.3V VID so it doesn't actually run at 1.3V it "tries to"
DeleteOk thanks! And does the fury x still have the negative fps scaling with this bios?
DeleteUnfortunately yes. So far no one has found a fix.
DeleteOk thanks for your quick reply. Sorry to bother you again but I have some questions. Should I oc then without upgrading the voltage? Or is +25mv still safe? (saw that in one of your older post). What would be the best oc settings for gaming since the negative fps scaling is still there? Aaand last question when will you release a new YouTube video? :D thanks! What you do is awesome :)
Delete+25mv will not get too much of the FPS drop but it might not yield a significant clock increase. Just do a quick test for yourself.

ReplyDeleteAnyone else with dual DP monitor setup getting screen blanking when voltage is upped passed 36mV with any bios? I have a PowerColor fury x and have had this issue with every bios since launch. Could it be the bandwidth needed to drive a 2k 144hz and 4k 60hz screen be my issue?
ReplyDeletethe monitor blacking out with raised voltage happens on all cards but the voltage at which it occurs varies from card to card. On mine I've had it happen at almost 1.4V I guess on yours it happens earlier. There is a hard mod that fixes this issue however I don't know the details of it.
DeleteThanks. What I find weird is that using your current bios I'm able to overclock to 1125 core 570 mem, without the screen blanking. So it's only an issue when upping voltage via software?
DeletePossibly.
DeleteI was getting the same issue with r9 290s but with DPort and Hdmi. The card die 3 weeks after.
DeleteBefore that I notice than the vrm1 on gpu1 was running hot:
Vrm1 90C
Vrm2 50-65C
Vrm1.1 50-65C
Vrm2.1 50-65C
GpuCores 70C max
In the beggining The blackouts start happening when adding Vcore (+20 or 100mv on msi afterburner). After, start happening at stock clocks and over Hdmi or Dport,1080p and 4k.i was waiting for a new Dport certified but before arrive while playing at stock clocks the system just shout down and don't power up again.
I just remove the card and everything was running normal.
(Using Evga 1050W gold and using krakens G10 + corsair h90s to cooling.)
I blame the Vrm than was defective or maybe I just put too much juice and r9 290 just cant handle +100mv.
VRM 1 is the AUX rail IIRC. I ran my 290X Windforce at +100 and even +150mv daily and never had an issue so I guess you just got a dodgy card.
DeleteI want to flash a Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury and so I'm looking in the zip folder... there are 4 x bios.rom files: - 'FuryNMAXBIOS' '3776FuryNMAXBIOS' '3840FuryNMAXBIOS' '4096FuryNMAXBIOS'.
ReplyDeleteI assume 3 of these also unlock more shaders (as per the numbers)? So the rom file 'FuryNMAXBIOS' keeps them unlocked at 3584?
Thanks for your efforts!
Yes that's correct. Though the 3776 and 3840 BIOSs are swapped around due a mess up with naming them.
DeleteThanks - I'll give them a try :)
DeleteRunning the latest stock fury X bios, I can maintain a stable over clock of 1170 core and 545 HBm with an added 150mv. Would your custom fury X biosallow me to reach higher stable over clock?
ReplyDeleteThanks
The BIOS just raises the VID and power limit on the cards. If you're at +150mv already then it won't help.
DeleteSo there's no benefit at al, in my case, to flash this custom bios besides higher overclocks?
Deletepretty much it won't do anything.
DeleteHello and thanks for all your mods , can i use the " 3840FuryNMAXBIOS " for 24/7 ?

DeleteIt is true than we cant put more than 1.3v in custom bios?
ReplyDeleteUsing the VID setting you can't. I tried it and the driver refuses to cooperate. However gupsterg released offset voltage BIOSs that top out at something like 1.45V. However with how Fiji loses FPS when give more voltage I don't recommend much more than 1.35V.
DeleteAhoj prosím tě co používáš na taktování? Že máš nahoře i paměti... Atiflash? Díky za odpověď
ReplyDeleteWith 3840FuryTriXBIOSMAX i have a " stock settings " , card is just unlock to 3840 sp , never past 1.15v in firestrike and instant crash 10 sec after launch , need to set manually the voltage . sorry for my bad ENG i'lldonate next month .

DeleteJust my bad , after clean instal now its Ok ( driver ) , really thanks , my card is better with same settings, now i'll test OC . Donate Soon
DeleteHey man thank you for the work you've done here and good luck with the youtube channel. I thoroughly enjoy your content! I'd like to ask you a question about an issue I had when I tried flashing my Fury Nitro with your furynmaxbios. I flashed the card twice but on both occasions I would end up with a black screen right before windows login screen. Also my monitor would make this clicking noise every 5 sec like it was trying to get out of standby mode. I have a freesync monitor hooked with a mini-dp --> dp cable.. could that be the culprit or is it the card?? The card itself works flawlessly at 1115/545 with no additional overclocks in place. I'd still like to get little more juice out of this beast. ;)
ReplyDeleteJust throwing out a quick thanks.
ReplyDeleteI tested stable my cards at 640MHz HBM and 1210MHz GPU Clock.
Substantially better than my previous 560 and 1175.
Hey everyone and Buildzoid,
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit late to the party but wanted to report on this bios I flashed on my Sapphire Fury X (MAXV_rev2.0).
Either I don't know how to use it or I have strange results, since my card clocks lower than with the AMD UEFI one. I thought that this BIOS sets the voltage and power limit higher, which results in us only having to change the clocks. However my card, is now not stable at 1115 core and 550 mem, whereas it was before without voltage boost.
Do we have to pump more volts manually on this bios though TriXX? How are you guys reaching those clocks? Any advice is welcome ;)
Thanks for the hard and interesting work. I always enjoy watching your videos on youtube (especially the vrm pcb analysis ones!).
Cheers
I try the bios, but when i use the bios it is unable to flash it with my new fury nitro.
ReplyDeleteAnd if it succeed, it doesnt see my card and it set it self at 300 mhz clock.
Vbios image not fond with the normal one, the rest, when i restart, it doesnt seen my cart and runs at 399 mhz
DeleteI'm trying to flash your FuryXMaxrev2.0 rom and I get NoBiosFound but I could easily flash original AMD from their database. Any ideas?
ReplyDeletehello. i am also getting a no bios image found error. any help?
ReplyDeletei would verry much like to flash this bios
